VRYSTAAT RALLY 2010

Theunissen 27 – 29 August 2010 

I stopped on my way passed Welkom, wanting to have a cup of coffee with Wolverine. To my disappointment he was not home and I met up with him at the rally. I have never seen it advertised and being inquisitive, I had to see what it was all about.

Was very surprised and shocked not to fill any documentation in, just pay the bucks, get a badge and enter.  

Found Wolverine to one side and had a beer with him, so much for that desired cup of coffee. We left the bar to walk the few stands and we strolled into the coffee tent with beer in hand. Here I saw an old friend Johan, from the Welkom CMA, whom I last saw at the 2009 Black Steers rally. Whist we were chatting we heard a woman scream and an “Old Wild West free for all punch up” ensued.  We took a few steps closer to the bar area which had about 80 people in it and left.  The huge brawl involved women and men alike, breaking bottles, thudding of fists and serious swearing. It took them about half an hour to calm down, with everyone out of breath with blood everywhere.  

This is not on, not the way to behave and man that just gives us all as serious bikers a bad name, which is ridiculous. Johan and some of his fellow members just shook their shoulders and commented “welcome back to the Free State”. Well the last time I saw a fight like that was at the old 147 hotel in Welkom, the big hang out all the rough miners visited. Not my idea of fun. 

Wolverine and I had one more and called it an experience before going our separate ways.
